The motivation behind writing NO MERCY FOR A BAD GIRL centers
around my interest in the human psyche and psychological trauma. Defenses
are created in the brain to cope with the trauma, such as post traumatic
stress disorder. Survivors become overwhelmed with symptoms and imprisoned
by their wounds. Others are able somehow to transcend them. My goal in writing
the book is to entertain as well as to educate readers about the connection
between the trauma of childhood abuse and post traumatic stress disorder. I have been a practicing psychotherapist for more than twenty-five years, working mostly with adults, many of whom have had a background similar to the main character of my novel. Working with survivors of abuses too horrific to imagine, I have marveled at the strength of their human spirit that brought them to my office. My expertise as a therapist working with trauma survivors gives me the background as well as the inspiration to author this book. Not only a psychotherapist, I am also the creator and leader of a well-received workshop for women called "Reclaiming Your Inner Wild Woman" which I presented all over the country a few years ago. I am media experienced, having spoken on several radio shows as well as appearing on a national television talk show to demonstrate aspects of my workshop. I have also hosted a local television show called "Let's Get Together" for the past several years. The market for this book is mainly adults who love to read a good page-turner and it has appeal to both women and men. It is not intended for young children or an adolescent market. Priscilla Z.
